Today, Police Command in Ogun State arraigned singer Habeeb Okikiola aka Portable before the Ifo High Court in Ogun State on six counts bordering assault.
On hearing the case at the Ifo High Court in Ogun State, the judge granted bail and requested to fulfil the bail condition before leaving the court premises.
The bail condition includes a #300,000 (three hundred thousand naira) fee and two shorties from his immediate family. The bail conditions were currently being met by his family at the court before filing this report.
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) earlier said Portable will face more than six charges bordering on alleged assault in court. “He is in court. There’s nothing to elaborate on. He is in court presently. He has been arraigned,”
What Happened before Portable arrest?
The Portable saga began last Tuesday after he had resisted arrest by the police in Ogun state. The singer argued that the arrest was “unwarranted,” adding that he makes his money “legitimately.” The 29-year-old also referred to himself as “a federal government liability”.
On Saturday, Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi said portable has more than six charges to attend to apart from resisting arrest and injuring a policeman.
“He will be charged to court for beating up a guy in Ota, who filed a petition to CP Ogun,” Adejobi tweeted.
“There are many pending cases of assaults on people and attacks, and he will be investigated because people have complained against him.
“So, there is no sentiment in law, let him appear in court, and allow the judge to listen to the charges against him. He has no constitutional immunity anyway.”
I am sure u are very awake as i have addressed MCs case, but portable has more than 6 count charges to attend to, apart from resisting arrest and injuring a police man. He will be charged to court for beating up a guy in otta, who fired a petition to CP Ogun. https://t.co/E0J7ASroLj
