Jan Blachowicz defeats Israel Adesanya to retains title UFC 259

Jan Blachowicz denied UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya‘s attempt to make history by using his wrestling to secure a unanimous decision victory to retain his light heavyweight title at UFC 259 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Blachowicz was caught in a high octane kickboxing chess match early but decided to commit to taking down Adesanya in the final two rounds to earn scores of 49-45, 49-45 and 49-46. It prevented Adesanya from becoming a two-division champion and proved that the Polish fighter is the kind of the 205-pound division.

 And the scores are in. 49-46, 49-45 & 49-45 for Jan Blachowicz! The champion retains and turns back Israel Adesanya’s attempt to make history. Big upset. Scores are a little suspect but the right man won.

Israel Adesanya looks to become a two-division champion when he challenges Jan Blachowicz for the light heavyweight title next in the main event.
